EU Nr. 282/2008

This   directive   contains   als   requirements   for   recycling   grades   to be   allowed   in   food   contact   applications.   For   the   time   being there are just a very few examples available: - PET bottles (via URRC or Vacurema  process) - HDPE milk bottles (in Great Britain) -    PP    boxes    (from    PP    regrind    out    of    closed    loop    recycling systems) All    the    documentation    along    the    value    added    chain    has    to follow     directive     EU     Nr.     2023/2006     (good     manufacturing practice).     Finally     only     recycling     grades     from     closed     loop systems   are   allowed   yet.   But   we   see   light   on   the   end   of   the tunnel to extend that range.

EFSA and AGES

In   teamwork   with   authorities   EFSA   ( www.efsa.europa.eu )   and AGES   ( www.ages.at )   from   Austria   we   are   working   in   a   projekt with     well     chosen     partners     from     machinery     construction, recycling,    compounding    and    plastics    conversion    for    more opportunities     to     pass     Challenge-Tests     according     EU     Nr. 282/2008   and   to   enable   new   recycling   materials   for   upcycling into food contact applications.
